Luise is about to turn nine. A year ago she was certain there was nothing wrong with her life: she had the best desk mate in the world and a perfectly normal class. Then, one day, her parents announced that the whole family was moving away. To Germany.

From that moment everything is upside down. They live in a smart house her father programmed, which lectures everybody in turn and gets on all their nerves. In his free time he is building a helicopter in the garage — an actual helicopter. Her mother is trying, without much success, to get the family eating her wildly healthy seed mixes, purées and bakes. And her little brother Rudolf is not simply a three-year-old; he is a terrible three-year-old, with trouble following him wherever he goes.

Luise is at a new school now, among new classmates, taught in German and rather differently from how it was done in Estonia. Her own view of it: “You can be sure that life will not go the usual way. But it is my story. And even if it all goes wrong sometimes, at least I try to be good, because what the world needs most is good people.”
